The World Bird Sancturary in Valley Park, Missouri is one of the lesser known attractions in the St. Louis area. This was our first time visiting and I was impressed with what I saw.

Powder Valley Conservation Area

Powder Valley is a great place to go hiking and see nature. At first it was not one of my preferred hiking places due to the fact that the trails are paved. However, after having children, and having to push a stroller around, I now greatly appreciate that there is a place where I can still hike.

There is also a cool nature center with stuff for the kids.

There has been a fairly severe drought in this part of the country. As a result the creek (in the photo above) was completely dried up.

The St. Louis Zoo

The zoo recently opened a new sea lion exhibit. The exhibit has a tunnel that you can walk through and see the sea lions from under water.

In addition to having awesome exhibits, the zoo is also beautifully landscaped, which makes strolling around the zoo more beautiful.

The St. Louis zoo is world class and the fact that it is free makes it even nicer.

07/9-11/2012 Lake of the Ozarks, Osage Beach, Missouri

We spent three days at the lake. The weather was perfect. We had fun speeding around in the speedboat (although the water was very choppy). We attempted to go tubing but the engine gave out.

Our room had great views of the lake and we saw some beautiful sunsets.
